Have your say on Swinton's redevelopment this Thursday

VIEWS on wide-ranging plans to redevelop Swinton will be gathered at a public event this week.

Just before Christmas, Rotherham Borough Council approved in principle the plans to regenerate the village.

A drop-in session is being held at Swinton Civic Hall from 5pm to 7pm on Thursday (January 10), to kickstart consultation over the programme.

Alan Jones, of Swinton Community Group, which has been up and running since the summer, said this was a chance for people to “come along, find out what might happen, and have their say”.

Rumours circulating in the village suggest up to £8 million could be invested in Swinton, although no figures have been released by the council.

Possible developments include demolishing and rebuilding public buildings including Swinton Library and building new housing.
