Green waste collections switch to winter timetable

GREEN bin collections are moving to once-a-month collections during the winter.

Rotherham Borough Council says the arrangement for garden waste will run between November 26 and March next year.

Waste manager Adrian Gabriel said: “As the growing season comes to an end it is expected that the volume of green waste collected will reduce significantly.

“This option will meet our objectives of the continued provision while releasing resources to support Christmas working arrangements which will minimise the impact on collection frequencies for our customers.”

Refuse crews will continue to leave bins which have been contaminated with the wrong type of waste.
