SHOPPERS and staff at Parkgate Shopping Centre raised almost £900 for two hospital charities in just One Great Day.

The retail park was just one of 140 running the One Great Day fundraising event in June, scooping £446.81 for each of the Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.

Park manager Janet Drury said: “We were absolutely delighted to be part of One Great Day events again this year and it’s something which I know all the tenants look forward to.

“It’s a great opportunity to have some fun raising money for children who are cared for nationally by the NHS and locally at Rotherham Hospital.

“It was a great atmosphere as usual at Parkgate and we’re really proud to have raised so much money.

“Thank you to all our customers who supported us.”

Money raised for Rotherham Hospital will go to the Dr Ted Children’s Appeal, which collects cash for toys and specialist equipment to support children staying in hospital.

George Briggs, chief operating officer at the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We're incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated fundraisers.

“To see everyone at Parkgate coming together to raise money for two such great causes is amazing.”

He added: “All the money raised for Dr Ted will help the charity to raise smiles amongst our youngest patients at Rotherham Hospital and make their visit as comfortable and stress free as possible.”

Established in 2014, One Great Day has raised over £400,000 for 94 children’s charities.
