Greasbrough Co-op targeted in overnight attack

A CONVENIENCE store was targeted in an overnight raid.

Police officers were called to the Co-op on Fenton Road, Greasbrough, which had its security rollers damaged and windows smashed.

Regular customer Pete Lowndes, of Fenton Road, said: “I went to the Co-op to get my paper as normal and when I got there it was surrounded by police.

“The roller shutters are all smashed up and the glass doors behind them have been smashed in.”

Mr Lowndes said he was told by staff at the store that the cash machines had not been targeted.

A police spokeswoman said: “Just before 1am this morning, it was reported the Co-op on Fenton Road, Greasbrough, had been broken into and a quantity of cigarettes had been stolen. 

 

“Damage was also caused to the door of the store in the incident.”

 

Anyone with information is asked to report it via 101 quoting incident number 27 of May 3.
