Grassland, shed and van blazes on busy night for firefighters

ACCIDENTAL and deliberate grass fires were among the incidents on a busy overnight shift for firefighters.

There were ten incidents across the Advertiser and Weekender patches, beginning with a deliberate fire in the open on Ingsfield Lane, Bolton-on-Dearne, at 7.15pm yesterday.

A deliberate grass blaze on Kingsmark Way at Goldthorpe at 7.30pm was followed by an accidental fence fire on Far Lane at East Dene at 8pm and a deliberate grassland fire just after 9pm on Westmorland Lane, Denaby Main.

Firefighters were also called to an accidental blaze involving trees and allotment on Silverdales in Dinnington at 9.20pm. 

There were deliberate fires involving grass at Furlough Road in Bolton-on-Dearne at 9.30pm; rubbish at Ferham Road, Holmes, at 11.20pm; and a shed on Southfield Crescent in Thurnscoe just after 5am today.

The other accidental fires were grass at Long Lane in Treeton at 5am and a van on M1 southbound between junctions 31 and 32 about half an hour later.
