FIRE crews descended on a “large scale” grassland fire which engulfed Rawmarsh on Monday.

Firefighters were called to Haugh Road at 5,58pm to deal with the blaze.

Temperatures had soared to a scorching 30 deg C in Rotherham, which made it as hot at Rome.

SYFS said the fire was “accidental”.

It took over an hour and 15 minutes to tackle the blaze.
