Grass and bushes set alight at East Dene

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with four overnight blazes across the area during a busy start to the week because of the hot weather.

A fire involving grass and bushes on Halsbury Road in East Dene at 9pm yesterday was believed to have been started deliberately.

There was also a deliberate garden fire shortly after midnight on Wesley Avenue in Aston, where firefighters spent about an hour.

A Transit van was involved in an accidental fire at Townend Avenue in Aston at 11.35pm yesterday.

And there was an accidental wild fire on Ceramia Court in Goldthorpe just before 7.30pm yesterday, at which crews from Dearne and Edlington stations spent more than four hours.
