A NEW video has been released by the company behind the £100 million transformation of a former pit site at Waverley into a new community, showing how the development could shape up.

Developers UK Coal and Howarth Estates unveiled the short film, complete with commentary, to offer an insight into how the reclaimed former industrial land will be developed with new schools, homes, roads and community facilities.

A public consultation event is being held at the Technology Centre at the Advanced Manufacturing Park on the site to give the public a more detailed look at the plans, for which outline applications have now been submitted.

The video includes a "flythrough" of the huge site, showing how different areas will be brought into use.

When it is completed, the 741-acre development will include 4,000 new homes, a park-and-ride scheme, a hotel, business and shop units, roads, community facilities and parkland.

The public consultation event is being held on November 23 between noon and 8pm.
