"Gallons" flowing away as water leak forces road closure

WATER workers have been urged to deal with a water leak which has been flowing for at least four days.

Yorkshire Water has dug up the road in Hilltop Lane, Richmond Park, to tackle the leak — and closed the street while the work goes on.

One resident said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if the fish at the bottom of the reservoirs are flapping on a dry bed. We are talking gallons of water leaking.”

The resident said the leak had first been reported last Thursday.

“They came and started work but then left it running down the hill,” he said.

“They came back yesterday and made the hole slightly bigger but went away again.”

Yorkshire Water has been contacted for comment.
