THE Mayor of Rotherham hailed the town’s Armed Forces Day celebrations as “Rotherham at its best”.
Cllr Jenny Andrews took the salute in All Saints’ Square following a parade through the town centre on what she called “an amazing day celebrating our military community”.
Flags flew and the sun shone as cadets and senior personnel in full uniform braved scorching temperatures on the hottest day of the year to take part in the military ceremony on Saturday.
The celebrations also featured vintage vehicles, wartime music and speeches from leaders of all faiths.
