Fungi fun down in the woods at Canklow

HAVE a fun day with fungi at a free family event this weekend.

The Canklow Woods Fungi Foray will run from 10am until 3pm on Saturday.

Participants will be able to find out more about toadstools and mushrooms with ecologist Julie Riley who will lead a guided walk through the woodland.

There will also be bushcraft activities, games and nature crafts between 11am and 3pm.

Sally Hyslop, community engagement officer for the Don Catchment Rivers Trust which is organising the event, said: “We’ll be exploring the woods to find fungi, learning how the toadstool got its spots, and making miniature mushrooms to take home.”
