Fundraising for Bluebell Wood is a piece of cake

BLUEBELL Wood is encouraging supporters to cook up some tasty creations with a mouth-watering fund-raising project.

The Love to Bake campaign is asking people to make and sell cakes in their communities to support the children’s hospice.

Proud cooks can upload photos of their cakes to Facebook, where the most popular will win a £20 Love2Shop voucher.

The campaign started on Monday and a spokeswoman said: “The idea is simple. All you need to do is bake a cake and sell the delicious slices to your friends or colleagues.

“Why not use an old family recipe or create a new signature cake? This way you can share and sell your masterpiece with your friends and relations, while supporting children and young adults with a shortened life expectancy.”

For those who might need a few hints and tips, the Bluebell Wood cake recipe book is available online or from any of the charity’s six shops for £3.

The spokeswoman added: “Just one cake sold for £1 a slice could raise enough money to help a child breathe easier with an oxygen mask.

“You don’t have to have culinary skills to take part and support, just the ingredients and a sprinkle of imagination.”
