Dr Billings visited the club along with Swinton representatives Cllr Ken Wyatt and Cllr Stuart Sansome.

He said: “It was good to see how engaged the young people were in the activities, and how much they enjoyed it.

“Karate teaches them discipline and self-control through martial arts and they can also progress over time to become mentors or tutors themselves.”

MAPS Karate Club is based at Swinton Civic Hall — classes are held on Monday evenings from 5.15pm.
