Fun and football help Jude battle cancer

A FAMILY fun day and football tournament held over two consecutive weekends raised money for a charity which is helping a schoolboy fight cancer.

Greasbrough Youth Football Club hosted the event at its ground on Roughwood Road Playing Fields.

The event was run in conjunction with a team of Rotherham fundraisers known as Team Jude, who have been raising funds for Ward 6 at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Jude Hawkridge, of Thorpe Hesley, has been receiving treatment at the ward since being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia aged seven in February last year.

Over the past year, Team Jude has raised more than £50,000 for the charity through different events.

The latest fundraiser raised £4,438 for the charity and saw Jude and his family get involved in the penalty shoot-out stall and inflatable sumo wrestling contest.
