Free tea and cake at World Suicide Prevention Day event

EVERYONE is invited for a free cuppa and a cake at an adult mental health unit this week.

Staff at Swallownest Court on Aughton Road, Swallownest, will mark World Suicide Prevention Day with a coffee morning on Wednesday, September 12.

The theme of the event, at the facility run by Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), is “it’s okay to talk”.

Coffee morning organiser Beth Sidaway, who works at Swallownest Court, said: “Why not drop in for a free cuppa and a bun or slice of cake?

“It will be a chilled out event — why not simply drop in for a chat?”

The event will run from 10.30am until noon, in the main reception area. It is being supported by the local branch of The Samaritans.

Across the UK and Ireland, more than 6,000 people die by suicide a year — an average of 18 each day.
