Free event will put you on the right road to work

IF you are looking for work, all the help and advice will soon be available under one roof in Rotherham.

This year’s LEAF (Local Employment and Advisory Forum) event at Magna on Monday November 13 follows the huge success of LEAF 2016, where over 1,400 people came through the door looking for work, training or careers advice

The free to attend jobs and careers event, which will take place between 9am and 4pm, has been held in Rotherham for the past four years getting bigger and better each time.

LEAF 2016 won the Mears Group Community Project of the Year 2016, and this year there will be more than 60 exhibitors on hand to provide you with information on real vacancies, knowledge of their industry, advice on how to gain the skills needed by employers and how to be successful in presenting yourself to a prospective employer.

As well as advice, the exhibitors have over 500 current vacancies and the event aims to:

Help businesses recruit staff now or in the future

Help companies connect with local schools

Raise local knowledge of employers, and

Help young people and jobseekers make the right choices about future careers.

The morning session of the event will be dedicated to groups attending from local schools who are considering career opportunities.

They will be seeking advice about what prospective employers are looking for and what training provision/apprenticeships are available that will provide them with the skills they need to succeed.

The afternoon session will be focused on college leavers and jobseekers. They will be keen to find out about and apply for live vacancies, identify the skills and qualifications needed for occupations, identify future apprenticeship vacancies and seek advice on available training provision.

Exhibitors range from Fortem/Wilmot Dixon, Mears Group, G4S, Royal Navy & Royal Marine, and Examplar Healthcare, to Gulliver’s Kingdom and Webhelp, so whatever kind of work you are after it is all under one roof

Training and recruitment providers in attendance will include AMRC, The Source, Phoenix Enterprises and ATL Training.

LEAF takes place at Magna, Sheffield Road, Templeborough, Rotherham, on Monday November 13.
