Four-hour battle to control field fire
FIREFIGHTERS spent almost four hours battling a blaze in a farmer’s field yesterday.
Our dramatic picture shows crews tackling the fire as it threatened to take hold in a field near Priestley Avenue in Rawmarsh.
Fire crews were called to the scene at about 4pm and were not able to leave until they had finished damping down at about 8pm.
The cause of the fire was still being investigated today.
