FOUR shops in a listed town centre mall have been closed in a rates dispute.

Funky Divas Salon, Something Special Crafty Tea Parlour, Yarn Crazy and Sarah Scarlett’s Pre-Loved — all in the Old Town Hall on Frederick Street — were all shut down on Tuesday afternoon.

The shopkeepers all dispute that they owe thousands of pounds in rent and unspecified "service charges", of which they only learned that morning.

Jason Granite, director of building owners FCFM Group Properties III Limited, attended at 3pm to oversee the closures.

The Advertiser approached Mr Granite in person for comment, but he refused to answer any questions.
