Four Land Rovers stolen every month in Rotherham

A RISE in Land Rover thefts saw 163 stolen in seven months across South Yorkshire.

Thirty of the incidents — between May and December 2021 — were in Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police said a recent day of action had seen six raids on premises linked to an organised crime group involved in the keyless thefts of high value Land Rovers across South and West Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Chief Supt Steve Chapman, Rotherham’s district commander, said: “This resulted in five arrests and the recovery of significant items, including high value electronic devices used by the gang to carry out the keyless thefts.

“This is a large scale and complex conspiracy investigation which is ongoing.”
