Four hurt in Great Houghton crash after driver “lost control on bend”

TWO women and two young children were injured in a crash which police believe happened after the driver “lost control of their vehicle on a bend”.

The driver, a 25-year-old woman, suffered pelvis and ankle injuries in the incident on Billingley Lane, Great Houghton yesterday.

Her passengers were a 72-year-old woman, who remained in hospital today with spine and head injuries, and two girls aged two and three, who were also injured.

The two-year-old girl suffered injuries to her face and skull, while the three-year-old girl had minor injuries.

A police spokesperson said officers had responded to reports of the collision at 3.50pm yesterday, adding: “It is believed that the driver of a grey Skoda Fabia lost control of their vehicle on a bend.”

Road policing officers are appealing for information from anyone who witnessed the car before the incident in Barnsley, or who may have dashcam footage.
