Four arrested after seriously injured man linked to pub break-in

FOUR men have been arrested after a man found seriously injured was linked to a break-in at a disused town centre pub.

At around 10.10pm last night, officers were alerted to reports of a burglary at the Cross Keys pub on Moorgate Street, which has most recently been used as a soup kitchen.

About ten minutes later, police received a report from an ambulance crew on New Wortley Road in Masbrough - around a mile away - saying that they had found a man with serious injuries.

A spokeswoman said the injured man was still in hospital this afternoon.

"The incidents are being treated as linked at this time and four men have been arrested in conmection with the ongoing investigation," she said.

"They are in police custody."
