Organised by the newly formed Rotherham Foster Carers’ Association, the event was hailed as a massive success by the group.

Dozens of looked-after children and the birth children of fostering families, played for hours in a hidden nook of the Rotherham countryside, only stopping to refuel on sausages and burgers from the barbecue, supplied by local building firm Cidon Construction.

Rotherham Foster Carers’ Association member Steve Fisher, said: “We wanted to create something special to bring the kids together so they could play, run around and enjoy the excitement of sleeping under canvas while making new friends.

“It also gave foster carers a chance to relax as one big Rotherham family. We plan to make it an annual event and hope to grow it to include foster families from other areas in the future.”

The Rotherham Foster Carers’ Association has been formed to organise more community and social events for fostering families as well as creating another support network for foster carers.
