Richard Oldfield  will be taking part in next month’s Yorkshire Half Marathon in aid of Combat Stress, a mental health charity for military veterans.

Richard, of Glenview Mews in Mexborough, is no stranger to running for causes he wants to help - he has previously raised money for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Yorkshire Cancer Research and the Sick Children’s Trust.

The fun runner, who was in the Forces for 15 years and served in Afghanistan, said: “I’m hoping to raise £400 but if I can raise more that would be great.

“I feel the cause is something close to my heart.

“I know combat stress is out there and not recognised enough.”

The half marathon takes place in Sheffield on April 9 and Richard has set up a funding page at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Richard-Oldfield4 to collect sponsorship.
