Former Millers boss Moore charged over betting breaches

FORMER Millers boss Ronnie Moore has been charged with misconduct over “multiple breaches” of betting rules.

The 61-year-old was suspended by current club Tranmere Rovers last month after it emerged he was being investigated by the Football Association.

And the FA announced on Monday that the League One club’s manager was to be charged.

A short statement on the governing body’s website said: “The FA has charged Ronnie Moore for alleged multiple breaches of Rule E8(b) for misconduct in relation to betting.

“The Tranmere Rovers manager has until April 8 to respond to the charges.”

Tranmere Rovers, who put assistant manager John McMahon in charge after suspending Moore, made no comment on the move.

Rule E8(b) of the FA's regulations states that any participant in football "shall not bet, either directly or indirectly, or instruct, permit, cause or enable any person to bet on the result, progress or conduct of a match or competition in which the participant is participating, or has participated in that season; or in which the participant has any influence, either direct or indirect.”

Moore had two spells in charge of the Millers and has been Tranmere manager since 2012.
