MANAGER Paul Warne had midfielder Will Vaulks locked up this week - for endangering team-mates with his trademark backflips!

It was all part of the Jail and Bail fun as Bluebell Wood ambassador Will and 11 other fundraising felons spent the day behind bars.

Their efforts to secure “bail” money on Wednesday brought in more than £10,000 for the North Anston children’s hospice.

They were arrested and charged for various comic offences at the magistrates’ court inside Hellaby’s Lifewise centre.

Paul joked: “As the manager of Will’s team, I would like to have him arrested for many offences.

“Firstly, for having no awareness of danger. When he scores, which is very rare, he decides to celebrate by doing a backflip.

“I am not concerned about him injuring himself, he’s easily replaced, but he may accidentally injure a team-mate.”

After winning his freedom, Will said: “Thank you so much to everyone that helped me, I appreciate it so much.

“Just to see the £5, £10, £20 or £50 donations coming in, that’s people’s money they are entitled to spend on their families or whatever they want.

“It’s such a brilliant cause and I’m so grateful for the support. Bluebell Wood means a lot to me.”

Frank Christmas, team leader at call centre Capita, was also among the inmates ringing round for donations.

And Howells solicitor James Gascoigne found himself on the other side of the legal system - in the Lifewise cells.
