Fly-tipping builder is prosecuted

A BUILDER who dumped rubble, fencing and garden waste on an area of private land has been successfully prosecuted for fly-tipping.

Richard Bagnall (39), of Harley Road, Harley, initially explained that he had tipped the waste on Taylor Crescent, Grimethorpe, with the intention of returning later to remove it.

But he pleaded guilty to fly-tipping at Barnsley Magistrates Court last Thursday as he faced charges brought by Barnsley Council.

At last week’s hearing it emerged that Bagnall had returned to clear up some of the waste and this was taken into account when he was sentenced.

He received a 12-month conditional discharge and had to pay £218.65 costs to Barnsley Council.
