FLOODING: Railways at Rotherham and Mexborough under water
The scene at Rotherham Central station

RAILWAY lines at Rotherham Central station and at Mexborough are still under water this morning (Friday) after yesterday's downpour.

Northern Rail said that due to severe flooding at Rotherham Central, Moorthorpe and Conisbrough, services between Sheffield and Leeds and Sheffield and Doncaster were suspended until further notice.

It said there were no rail replacement services available due to a lack of vehicles available and flooded roads.

The closure of Rotherham Central station also means Tram Train services are suspended.

The railway at Mexborough has been flooded by the nearby River Don

Tracks at Mexborough, near the River Don, have also flooded, which means there are no services between Sheffield and Doncaster.

The line is closed and passengers are being advised not to travel. There are no rail replacement services.

Meanwhile, dozens of schools across the borough have been closed.
