FLOODING: 'Only travel if necessary'

ROTHERHAM Council has warned residents to only travel if necessary this morning as flood water is still affecting parts of the borough.

The council advised residents to stay at home and do not leave unless you are asked to do so by emergency services. Do not travel unless absolutely essential.

"Roads across the region have been adversely affected and we would advise people not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary," the authority said.

Bin collections have also be affected.

  • When you have to pass through a flood, take your time. Stop and assess how deep the water is. Don’t just drive into it. Some roads that are likely to flood have depth gauges. Check the depth on these
