FLOODING: Mexborough residents among those evacuated from homes
People were spotted gathering near floodwater on Doncaster Road in Mexborough today.

HOUSEHOLDERS were evacuated from their homes as more than 100 stranded people across the county were rescued after non-stop rain hammered the area.

Some residents living near the Pastures pub at Mexborough were still being moved from their homes this morning because the risk remained.

The area was among the worst affected in the 2007 floods — and more housing has been built there since.

The railway lines at Mexborough and Rotherham also remained under floodwater this morning.

Despite the weather easing off, parts of Mexborough and Denaby are still under water this morning.
