FLOODING: Dozens of Rotherham schools closed
PUPILS at nearly 40 schools have been given the day off after flooding across the borough.
Water covered the road outside the gates to Kilnhurst Primary (below) this morning, where not enough staff were able to get to work.
Eastwood Village Primary School was built on stilts to lower the flooding risk but still fell victim to the rising water levels.

Other reasons for the near-40 closures included inaccessible roads and being unable to guarantee the safety of the premises.
Meanwhile, Rotherham town centre businesses were affected and Rother Valley Country Park closed to help with emergency efforts.
