FLOODING: Alert issued for Middle River Don as Tram Train services are suspended

A FLOOD alert has been issued for the Middle River Don meaning flooding is possible near the watercourse in low-lying areas.

Flooding has been reported in locations across Rotherham including in Whiston, where Whiston Brook has burst its banks, and in Swallownest where a car become stuck in flood water.

The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the Middle River Don covering areas such as Rotherham, Thrybergh, Aldwarke and Kilnhurst.

River levels are expected to remain high until 9am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Stagecoach Supertram said Tram Train services had been suspended due to flooding.

Dalton Brook has burst its banks and water is flowing onto Doncaster Road.
