Flag raised — but no crowds — at Rotherham's Armed Forces Day

THERE were no crowds of thousands but Rotherham still marked Armed Forces Day by raising the flag.

Restrictions meant no big town centre event for the second year running but dignitaries met outside town hall on Saturday (26).

Maj Adie Hunt, chairman of trustees at Rotherham Military Community Veterans Centre, said: “We’d like to thank Rotherham for its continued support for Armed Forces Day and recognising the service, dedication and contribution service personnel, past and present continue to make.”

The Mayor of Rotherham, Cllr Jenny Andrews, added: “Hopefully next year’s event will be bigger and better than ever before.”
