Rotherham branch of the international organisation, The Fitness League, has been up and running since 1934–spanning the decades with its trademark exercise classes and stylish uniform.

The ladies marked the milestone with a rally at the Holiday Inn in Rotherham on Sunday with classes and activities including pilates and reflexology.

As they celebrated, members reminisced about the early days and the uniform of black satin pants and white satin blouse, which has been updated and replaced by cropped trousers and a T-shirt, with the league's "leaping lady" emblem.

They were joined by members from across Yorkshire who toasted the success of the organisation with bucks fizz and enjoyed a special cake to mark the anniversary.

"To keep Rotherham's classes going for 75 years is quite an achievement," said member Maureen Colley.

"It's not only the classes we enjoy, but the friends and the social side too."
