First Green Flag for Rotherham park

ROTHER Valley Country Park collected its first Green Flag Award to take the borough’s current total to four.

Clifton, Greasbrough and Ulley retained their status with the international mark of quality, managed by Keep Britain Tidy.

Cllr Dave Sheppard, Rotherham Council cabinet member for social inclusion, said the increase in Green Flags was testament to the hard work and dedication of those who look after the green spaces.

He added: “We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents. This is especially true over the last 18 months that has seen parks become lockdown lifelines, playing a vital role for people as places to breathe, relax, exercise and meet friends and family safely.”

Clifton Park achieved Green Heritage Site Accreditation for its management of the historic features for the fourth year running — one of only five Yorkshire sites to get the award.
