Firework goes through window and starts fire in Clifton

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a "deliberate" blaze caused by a firework.

Three fire engines from Maltby, Parkway and Elm Lane stations were called to a property on Gilberthorpe Street, Clifton, at 11.30pm on Saturday.

A firework had gone through the window and caused a small fire, said a spokeswoman from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

"The fire is believed to be deliberate and firefighters left the scene at 12:20am," she added.
