Firefighters to the rescue of ill shire horse

FIREFIGHTERS used specialist rescue equipment to help an unwell shire horse to its feet.

Crews from Rotherham, Adwick and Tankersley stations attended a stable at Newhall Lane in Carr at 12.40pm on Saturday (20).

A spokesperson for SYFR said: “Upon arrival they found a shire horse in a stable that could not stand up.

“The horse was unwell and advice from the vet was that it needed to be stood.

“As such, crews used specialist animal rescue equipment to get it on its feet.”

A cooker fire at a care home on Wellgate yesterday morning (Sunday) was out on arrival.

Firefighters used fans to clear the smoke-logged kitchen.
