Firefighters tackle woodland blaze in Thurcroft

FIREFIGHTERS spent half-an-hour tackling a woodland fire in Thurcroft on one of the hottest days of the year.

FIREFIGHTERS spent half-an-hour tackling a woodland fire in Thurcroft last night (Tuesday).

A crew from Maltby responded to a blaze on Thurbrook Gardens, Thurcroft, at 7.55pm.

The fire started accidentally and reignited itself from a previous fire, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

Firefighters from Edlington Station were called to Wetherby Drive, Mexborough at 7.40pm yesterday to put out a conifer tree on fire.

They tackled the accidental blaze for around 30 minutes.
