Firefighters tackle vehicle and chimney fires

Firefighters tackled a trio of blazes at the weekend including in a chimney, caravan, and a car.

FIREFIGHTERS tackled blazes in a chimney, caravan, and a car at the weekend. 

Fire crews from Dearne used a roof ladder to get to the chimney fire after being called to the property on Don View Road, Mexborough, at 1.32pm on Saturday.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “The fire was out by 3.34pm and the occupiers were advised not to use the fire again until they’d had the chimney swept.” 

Firefighters from Elm Lane and Parkway were also called to Droppingwell Road, Kimberworth, at 4.24pm on Saturday to tackle a caravan “fully involved in fire”. 

The spokesperson siad they had left the scene at 5.11pm and the fire was also thought to have been started deliberately.

A “well alight” Fiat Chiquento on Queen Street, Rawmarsh, was attended by firefighters from Rotherham at 1.10pm yesterday.

They left the scene of the fire, which was classed as deliberate, at 1.58pm.
