Firefighters called to open-air arson scenes

FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle two deliberate fires overnight.

One crew from Rotherham station headed to land off Flanderwell Lane in Sunnyside at 7.20pm after a corn crop was set alight.

They left the scene at around 8.05pm. The fire is being treated at arson.

A crew from Dearne station were dispatched to Sedgefield Way, Mexborough, at 11.30pm, when a hedge was on fire.

They left the scene of the fire, also thought to be deliberate, just before midnight.
