Firefighters called to bonfire in Kimberworth

A FIRE crew was called out to a carpet fire in a Kimberworth garden overnight.

Firefighters from Elm Lane were called to Kimberworth Park Road at 7.24pm on Sunday evening.

On their arrival, they found controlled burning in the back garden of a property, said a spokeswoman from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

"The crew in attendance made a decision to extinguish this fire as the bonfire involved carpets, which were giving off thick smoke," she added.

"This was dealt with by 7.47pm."
