They gained entry into the secured detached house through the back, and piled up all the remaining kitchen units to start the blaze.

Crews from Aston Park Station attended after the fire was reported at about 7am on Friday.

A station spokesman said South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue’s arson reduction team would now ensure the premises do not become a regular target.

He added: “It will be re-secured or demolished, because once someone breaks in to a building like this, it could happen again, and start to become a bigger issue.

“So it has to be dealt with as swiftly as possible.”
