Firebugs set light to empty house

FIREFIGHTERS battled a blaze in an empty house for almost two hours after an alleged arson attack.

A crew from Rotherham Fire Station attended the property on James Street, Masbrough, shortly after 9pm last night after a 999 call from concerned neighbours.

A spokesman for the fire service said that the terrace property was “well ablaze” by the time the firefighters arrived.

He added: “Fortunately the property was not occupied and nobody was hurt in the fire.

“On further investigation, several seats of fire were found to have caused the blaze, leading us to the conclusion that it was deliberately lit.”
