Fire service investigating Rawmarsh flat blaze

THE cause of a flat fire in Rawmarsh in the early hours of Wednesday is under investigation.

Firefighters from Rotherham, Dearne and Maltby stations were called to Wild Avenue at 2am.

It is thought that the blaze began on the ground floor and spread upstairs.

No-one was home at the time of the incident and crews left the scene at about 3.20am.

Firefighters also dealt with two deliberate fires overnight.

Two wheelie bins were set alight on Brinsworth Road in Brinsworth at about 8pm and there was a rubbish blaze at Brookside, Swinton, at 2.25am.
