Fire on industrial land started by arsonists

A FIRE on industrial land was started this morning (Tuesday) by arsonists.

Scrap copper was found alight by firefighters who were called to Gateway Place, Parkgate, at 6.57am.

A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said a crew from Rotherham station was at the scene until 7.41am and the blaze had been started deliberately.

She added: "No-one was at the scene when we arrived."

Arsonists also targeted a wheelie bin last night (Monday) in Baring Road, Blackburn, at 8.13pm.

A crew from Elm Lane was at the scene for 15 minutes.
