Fire in rubbish chute was started deliberately

A FIRE in a rubbish chute in a Rotherham block of flats this morning (Wednesday) was started deliberately.

Firefighters from Rotherham, Elm Lane and Dearne stations were called to Spring Walk in the town centre at 2.25am where there was a fire in a bin chute, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

Firefighters were at the scene for about 20 minutes and the fire was started deliberately, she added.
