Fire crews fight nursing home blaze

CREWS from four fire stations were called to a blaze at a derelict nursing home yesterday evening.

 

Six fire engines from Rotherham, Darnall, Mexborough and Elm Lane stations rushed to the building on Erskine Road, Eastwood, at around 5.30pm.

Firefighters were assisted by an operational support unit, incident support unit and the technical rescue unit and used two aerial ladder platforms to fight the flames.

No-one was injured in the fire which was put out by 8.40pm.

An investigation is now underway into the cause of the blaze.
