Fire crews called to oven fire at Swallownest

FIREFIGHTERS attended an oven on fire in Swallownest over the weekend - but found it was already out on their arrival. 

Crews from Maltby, Aston Park and Parkway were called to Egerton Road at 7.32pm on Saturday evening.

When they arrived, the crews found the fire had been put out, said a spokeswoman from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

"This had started when fat deposits in an oven were set alight by the grill," she added.

Crews cleared the smoke, using a positive pressure ventilation fan, and left the scene at 7.58pm.
