Fire crews called out to multiple fires in Dearne Valley overnight

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to several fires across the Dearne Valley area overnight.

A crew from Tankersley station were dispatched to a deliberate fire involving a LGV on Sheffield Road in Hoyland at 7.45pm and left the scene just over an hour later.

By 8.25pm firefighters were out at Hoyland again - this time a crew from Elm Lane station attended a fire on Tinker Lane involving a conifer.

This incident was deemed as accidental, a spokesperson from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said, and the crew left the area after 20 minutes.

Two further fires were also reported in Edlington in the early hours.

At 2.55am a crew from Edlington were dispatched to Queens Crescent to a commercial wheelie bin that had been torched.

They left the scene at 3.25am.

Aston firefighters then dealt with two wheelie bins alight on Edlington Lane.

The fire was reported at 3.45am and firefighters were on the scene for 40 minutes.

The cause of both fires was believed to be deliberate, added the spokesperson.
