Fire crews alerted by member of public to two-car collision

FIREFIGHTERS returning from another incident were alerted by a member of the public to an accident where a car hit a stationary vehicle in Bolton-on-Dearne.

A crew from Dearne attended the incident at 3.21pm on Friday after they were approached returning to the station by a member of the public telling them about a nearby road traffic incident.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: “On arrival they found that a car had crashed into a stationary vehicle on Mexborough Road.”

No record of any injuries was recorded on the fire service log.

“The driver had managed to get out of the car before crews arrived although an ambulance was still called as a precaution,” said the spokesperson.

“Crews ensured the vehicle was made safe and handed over the incident to the police shortly after 3.30pm.”
