Fire at disused Horse and Groom pub in Goldthorpe

ARSONISTS set fire to a disused pub in Goldthorpe in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

Crews from Dearne, Edlington and Adwick were called out to Barnsley Road to the site of the old Horse and Groom pub at 12.20am. 

"It it still not entirely clear what happened, but it is believed a gas pipe may have been involved," a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said. 

"No-one was injured in the incident and the cause was assessed as deliberate."

Crews left the scene at 1am.
